HOMECOMING - Game #4

The newspaper headline is - Declo Homecoming a Blowout!
Homecoming week was filled with activities, everyday was a dress up day.  Tuesday Logan & Chancey went to school in their pajama's.  Wedensday evening there was a bomb fire.  Thursday was Disney day - Chancey went to school dress as Hannah Montana.  Friday was Spirit day - with a parade and tailgating starting at 5PM.  Then the game at 7 PM - the weather was beautiful.

The football team lead the homecoming parade.
Josh, Tyler, Logan & Brogan

Every class had a section of fence to decorate.  The seniors was awesome.

Logan headed out to the huddle with the play!

The final score of the homecoming game was Declo 59 Filer 8.  Everyone played a great game.  Before the game started all the parents and former Declo Football players made a huge tunnel on the field for the players to run through as they were announced.  Then before and after the game the players had practiced a special dance - a tongon chant.  I am working on uploading the video, it was really neat!

Game #3

Declo traveled to Malad for Game #3.  This is a big game, at this point in the season Malad is undeafted also!  The game started out a little rough, then Declo settled down and started to play ball.  The end of the 1st quarter it was Declo 6 Malad 0.  The 2nd quarter started out with Malad making a field goal and then due to a bad referee call - Malad ended up getting a touchdown.  Declo battled back hard and ended the 3rd quarter with a score of  Declo 36 and Malad was still 10!  There was no score in 4th quarter!

Logan & Chancey on the sidelines together!

Last Friday night after the game against Kimberly.  Elizabeth and Cloe had a party at their house.  Chancey was helping the girls get ready for the party and the Kidd's new puppy attacked her and made off with a package of Hot Dog buns.  All week Elizabeth told Chancey she had ruined the party and they weren't friends anymore, because Chancey lost the buns to the dog!  Chancey decided to try and make up to Elizabeth by giving her a gift - 8 fresh Hot Dog buns...

Friends once again!

Football Game 2

Declo vs. Kimberly the first home game of the season!
Kimberly kicks off to Declo, the kick goes into the end zone.  Declo fields the ball at the 20 yard line, Jeremy rolls back and throws to Logan... 80 yard touchdown - 12 seconds into the game.  Kimberly turns the ball over and Jeremy throws a 50 yard touchdown pass to McCoy.  New Declo High School record 42 points in the 1st quarter.

There isn't a whole lot more to say about this game - the whole team played and played well.  Sorry no pictures I had to record this game, as my dad was back visiting my grandmother.

Final score was Declo 62 Kimberly 7

Surprise Birthday Party

Kory's dad turned 80 on July 5th.  We actually had a surprise party planned for the end of June, but Dad was in the hospital, so we had to cancel.  A couple of weeks later after recovering from the hospital and us kids getting things together, we ended up having a really nice surprise party for Dad at the Heyburn River Park.

Dad realizing we had really pulled one over on him!

Now here are the kids - they had a great day with cousins

Before the day was over the kids ended up in the river -

No water for Chancey, just enjoying the sun!

Home Run Derby

While uploading pictures from the last couple weeks of Football, I found a few items I had forgotten to blog about.  First is the home run derby which was in June.  This was put on by BABA just for fun, they had a contest for all the different age groups including parents/coaches.  Kory hit for our team as an adult, he got a couple over the fence when Chancey was pitching to him warming up, but didn't get any over during the actual competion (they were using a pitching machine).  Chancey on the other hand started off a little slow, the girls didn't have to get it over the fence, but out to a line in the grass.  Chancey ended up getting a couple to the fence and ended up winning hitting 7 out of 10 over the line.

Declo vs. Aberdeen
First game of the season, we had to travel to Aberdeen.  Aberdeen had beat American Falls the week before, so both Delco & Aberdeen were ranked #2.  Final score was Declo 51 Aberdeen 8.

Update 2009

Well we survived another summer and school has started again.  I am not sure where the time has gone - Keegan is back a Boise State, Logan is a Senior and Chancey is a Freshman both @ Declo High School.  We are a very proud Hornet family.

Keegan has a great apartment with a really good friend from Buhl.
Chancey made a huge decision back in May, she decided to transfer and go to Declo High School.  This will be the only year she will be able to go to school with either one of her brothers and I think Logan is pretty exicted to have his sister around.  Chancey also decided not to play Volleyball this year, her thumb is not 100% yet and she doesn't want to risk an injury before Basketball.

So the next couple months of blogs will probably be all about Declo Hornet Football.  I am using the blog so that someday I have a record of everything the kids did during this crazy busy time of their lives.  So don't think Logan is my favorite, because once football is over it will be all about Chancey and basketball.

And the Prom King is...

Last night was the Declo High School 2009 Junior Prom. Logan's beautiful date was Jessica Heward. And thanks to Grannie (Diane) for the sweet ride. I didn't get a picture of their whole group, but they went with 9 other couples. The morning started early as they had to be to the Webb's house in Raft River for breakfast by 8 AM then it was off to Pocatello to a Gymnastics place to play. Dinner was at the Stoker's and then it was off to the prom. The big surprise of the night was the announcement of Prom King - Logan Knopp and Prom Queen - Jessica Heward. This is voted on by the student body so it is an honor!

Looking good...

Let's Go Racing Boys!!!

Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Kory & I recieved the most awesome Christmas present from Dad & Barb... a trip Las Vegas and tickets to the Nascar races both Saturday and Sunday. We headed for Vegas Friday, February 27th with Dad & Barb, Ken & Nanette Kostka, & Larry & Tonya Clair. Our ride to Vegas was in a 40 foot motorhome, which we were parking at the Speedway. We arrived in the afternoon and after getting settled in our rooms at The Orleans, it was off to see Kenny Wayne Shepard (an awesome guitar player, who has is own show and band). It was a great show Kenny was totally amazing, I could have watched him play for hours!

Saturday, February 28th

Off to the races... Saturday we went to the "Neon Garage", yes it was an extra charge, but so worth it. We got to go down on pit road. We also got to see the crews working on all the cars for Sunday's race. And we were at Victory Lane to see the winner Greg Biffle after he won the race.

Pit box Crew making repairs to a wrecked car, yes we
were really close!

Sunday, March 1st

Sunday we headed to our actual seats - right in the middle of turns 3 & 4. The seats were awesome we could see the whole track. The sun was shining and we were ready to hear the cars rumble. Of course we had a little pool and everyone had their driver picked!

The view from our seats!
Dad, Barb, Nanette & Ken watching the race.

Lined up and ready for the start... It was hard to get a good picture of the cars
going 180 miles an hour...

Both evenings following the race we Barbqued dinner at the motorhome and hung out around the camp fire. It can take over 3 hours to get out of the parking lots, hence the reason we took a motorhome. So we could cook dinner, hang out and then when things cleared out we could jump in our little jeep (long story) and head back to the hotel!
Larry telling us some story... apparently it was funny. Dad, Tonya, Barb & Nan

Nan & Ken
Thanks to everyone for letting Kory & I tag along! It was an awesome time that we won't soon forget! By the way Kyle Busch went from the back to the front to win Sunday's race and Dad took everyone's money with a smile!

Chancey's Bionic Thumb

OK I know it's been a while since we have done a blog update... So here it goes...
I am going to start with Chancey's Bionic Thumb (or at least that's what Kory & I call it)! One little basketball injury is now 2 surgeries and one screw later and it looks like everything is going to hold. After the surgery in December and spending 3 weeks in a cast, Chancey started Occupational Therapy at the end of January. There were a couple of spots in the scar that just keep sticking out more and the therapist thought maybe it was a stitch or two. Back to Dr. Crane we go. Sure enough it appeared that there were a couple of stitches that had come to the surface and were trying to come through Chancey's skin. The big problem was is the stitches were actually the ends of the line that Dr. Crane had run through her ligament and into the screw to hold everything together. It was finally decided that the only way to fix things was to remove the stitches, Dr. Crane felt like everything was good and the ligament would hold on it's own! So March 13th was surgery #2, Dr. Crane removed the stitches and made sure that everything looked good. 5 more stitches which came out 10 days later and 14 days after surgery #2 Chancey played in a basketball tournament in Boise. Seems the Bionic thumb is good to go, although Mom has a heart attack every time she get's fouled, falls down and etc.

This picture is the day she hurt it playing basketball in May 2008.
The picture doesn't show how black, blue and swollen it really was!
This is the thumb following cast removal after surgery #1.

Snowmobiling

Keegan and Logan have spent a couple of days this week, like Thursday (yes Logan played hookie from school) and Sunday snowmobiling at Magic Mountain. Thursday just the 2 boys went and then Sunday Logan's friend Andrew Wheeler went with them. They had a great time both days! Here are a few pictures and yes they both came home alive and nothing was broken on them or the sleds!!!

Keegan and Logan great picture, they knew Mom would be happy! The next 2 pictures are Logan and I have decided he has no fear!

Happy New Year

We had a fun New Year's Eve and we actually spent it as a family! Keegan and I called Walmart Wednesday morning and they actually did have a Wii (Kory and I were going to buy one as a family Christmas present and you couldn't find one) so we call Kory and he said let's get it. Keegan headed to Walmart to get the Wii and then went to Play and Trade to trade in the old PS2 so we could get some extra games for the Wii! Keegan helped me get it all set up and then we had to play for a while - it is so much fun. Logan had spent the day hunting by Shoshone, I know it's hard to believe that he would be hunting. But we waited for him to get home and then the 5 of us headed to Albion to Craig's Albion Cafe for dinner. We had an awesome dinner, the Chicken Fried Steak is the best I have ever had! We did take 2 cars so Kory and I could go have a drink w/ Debi and Ron after dinner. The kids headed home to start the Wii games. Kory and I enjoyed sometime with Debi and Ron and then headed home about 10PM. The rest of the night other than a quick break to watch the ball drop was spent playing Wii and Kory doing a puzzle when it wasn't his turn at the Wii. We finally went to bed about 1AM! Great family time it's not to often the kids just want to hang out! Sorry no pictures of Logan!
My next mission is to get the Wii fit! No luck today, we will be trying again tomorrow!

Keegan bowling - he is good!
Chancey bowling left handed (she is right handed) but she did beat Keegan.
Chancey and Cloey taking a break and watching the Wii games.
Kory playing the Wii from the office chair -
I thought getting a Wii would get us moving.
We may have to hide the office chair!
