Chancey's surgery

Chancey had surgery this morning to repair the tendon in her right thumb. Yes, this is also a basketball injury! She jammed her thumb back in May at Basketball camp and the doctor thought it was just a sprain. Well when Volleyball started it was killing her and would swell up everyday. So we went to see Dr. Crane (he was gone when she originally hurt it), he discovered that she had damaged the tendon on the outside of her thumb and it had healed wrong. Dr. Crane said as long she could stand the pain she could finish Volleyball and play Basketball and then she could have surgery to repair it. Surgery was the only way to fix it!
So this morning @ 6AM in a huge snow storm we headed for the hospital! Dr. Crane said the surgery went great. She now has a screw in the bone of her thumb that holds her tendon tight and in place. She will send the next 2 weeks in a splint and then 6 weeks in a cast, then a little therapy and hopefully she is good to go again!
So Christmas break is laying on the couch, watching movies and recouping!!!

Chancey playing basketball

Sorry I am a little behind on my blog - Uncle Clyde made sure to let me know! So here is a little catchup. Chancey was able to get back on the basketball court on November 24th, after a month of sitting the bench letting her knee heal. She had to take it easy, but ended up with a great second half of the season averaging 12 points a game. The team ended up 2nd in their conference, they lost the championship game to Jerome (Jerome went undefeated for the year).
Chancey had parents and grandparents that held their breath a few times when she was able to start playing again, but she did great!

Dressed down and ready to go...
A big smile when she was able to get back on the court!
Bring the ball down the floor sure feels good...
